Namah Shivaya
I bow to Shiva, the auspicious one. The five syllables Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya represent the five elements — earth, water, fire, air and space.

We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva who permeates and nourishes all. May He free us from the bondage of death for the sake of immortality, even as a cucumber is severed from its vine.
Meditate always on Maheshwara, who is like a silver mountain, adorned with the beautiful moon, brilliant with jewelled ornaments, holding an axe, deer, boon and protection in his hands, seated in lotus posture, praised by gods, wearing tiger skin — five-faced and three-eyed.
I praise Shiva — the Lord, the master of life, the all-pervading Vishwanath, the Lord of Jagannath, ever blissful, the Lord of all beings and the master of elements — the auspicious, the bestower of peace.
With the holy water flowing from the forest of matted hair purifying his neck, wearing a garland of serpents — making the sound Damat Damat of the damaru drum — Shiva performed the wild cosmic dance. May that Shiva bestow auspiciousness on us.
